Buriram United FC have won the Toyota League Cup and will play in TMCC 2015
Buriram United FC will be the Thai representatives in the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2015, after they claimed the Toyota League Cup for the fourth time in their history, defeating Sisaket FC 1-0 in the final.
The victory came at Bangkok’s Supachalasai Stadium where a wondrous first-half strike from Korean Go Seul-Ki was enough to separate Buriram from Sisaket FC at the final whistle.
Despite the absence of Brazilian duo Diogo Luis Santos and Gilberto Macena, Jandson dos Santos was remarkable in attack and harried the Sisaket FC defence with his impressive running.
Sisaket began brightly with Adefolarin Durosinmi proving a thorn in the side of the Thunder Castle’s defense. However, as Buriram became more comfortable in possession the inevitable came to pass as Go seized on a clearance from the box. The charging Korean hit the ball strong and true as the ball sailed into the top right of the Sisaket goal, as Go wheeled away in celebration towards the sea of blue-clad fans to his left.
Sisaket attempted desperately to try to get back in the game although Buriram were able to keep the opposition attackers under wraps for the remainder of the game, ensuring a 1-0 win and a ticket to the final of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship on the 20th of December.
Buriram player Diogo, speaking after the game, was unhappy that he was unable to contribute to the win, but he was adamant that his team has what it takes to win all their remaining competitions. “We work hard and train and I see no reason why we can’t win everything this season.” said the Brazilian. “I am confident” he added.
Teammate Jandson, who had a spectacular game in the final, was similarly optimistic of his side’s chances. “We played well today and we should carry this on. It’s a shame we couldn’t score more and I am partly to blame for that, but I will come back stronger. I’m ready for the teams from Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos.
Buriram will meet the semi-final winner at the Supachalasai Stadium for the final in December, with the round-robin stage still not completed, their opponents are yet to be decided.
